“EMCC” – the first edition of the European Media Cycling Contest, part of the Italian Bike Festival, promoted by Apt Servizi and Visit Romagna

The European Media Cycling Contest (EMCC) is one of the biggest pieces of 2022 news for cycling enthusiasts in Emilia Romagna. The region’s Misano World Circuit will host the first edition of the EMCC, which is part of the eagerly awaited Italian Bike Festival. 50 international media – including journalists, bloggers, influencers and YouTubers – specialised in cycling from 15 different European countries will take part in the EMCC 9-11 September 2022 (www.emcc.it). The event has been jointly organised by Apt Servizi Emilia-Romagna and Visit Romagna, within the framework of the communications and marketing projects on the European cycling markets.

Brand new for 2022 is the first edition of the European Media Cycling Contest (EMCC), a new cycling event hosted within the Italian Bike Festival 2022, taking place at the Misano World Circuit. Fifty international media – including journalists, bloggers, influencers and YouTubers – specialised in cycling will take part in the three-day cycling extravaganza. Participants are coming from the following 15 countries: UK, Poland, Slovenia, Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Russia, Czech Republic, Spain, Sweden, France, Greece and Italy.

The festival will start on Friday 9 September at the Emilia Romagna Region Tourist Board stand at the Italian Bike Festival, within the area reserved for Visit Romagna, Territorio Turistico Bologna Modena and Visit Emilia. The event will kick off with a “Welcome Meeting” that will present EMCC followed by a talk by Apt Servizi on the theme of cycing tourism.

In the afternoon, EMCC participants will be able to join ‘factory talks’ with the bike companies that are present at the festival as well as testing and trying out the latest bike models in the market. In the evening, the media group will visit the “Piadina Experience” museum in San Giovanni  in Marignano, where an aperitif and welcome party will follow.

On Saturday 10 September, all EMCC participants will enjoy a guided bike tour at 9am, starting from the host hotels in Misano Adriatico and then passing through the Misano World Circuit and continuing through an itinerary of about 60 km that will pass by some of the most beautiful villages of the Conca Valley, with the possibility to taste local wines and typical products at a well-known winery in Morciano di Romagna. In the afternoon, guests will be back at the Italian Bike Festival with more factory talks and a meeting with the organisers of Romagna’s Gran Fondo races at the Visit Romagna stand.

In the evening, EMCC guests will be able to enjoy an “apericena” (aperitivo + dinner) in Piazzale Roma (in Misano Adriatico), organised by Visit Misano. The event will be enlivened with a DJ set featuring EMCC member, Patrick Von Loringhen, a bike blogger from Augsburg (Germany) who, in his spare time, dabbles in console performances all over Europe.

The grand finale of EMCC will be when the 50 European guests will participate in La Gialla Cycling, the Gran Fondo ride organised by the Italian Bike Festival (100km with 1,500 metres of elevation gain), taking place in the hinterland of Romagna, on the border with the Marche region. This will provide a real contest in which the EMCC members will compete for the first edition of the European contest, with a podium featuring two award categories, one for women and another for men.

EMCC has been organised thanks to the joint cooperation between Apt Servizi Emilia Romagna and Visit Romagna, within the framework of the communications, marketing and promotional projects for the bike product on the European markets.

The EMCC also has a Facebook and Instagram profile.
